Opening Hours

Mangal-arati begins, when the Deity’s curtains are opened early morning and the Priest blows the conch. Prior to opening the curtain, the Priest has awakened the Deities, offering them morning paraphernalia, water and milk sweets. While the Priest is performing Mangala-arati, the attendees take up kirtana, which involves a set program of songs. The duration is between 20-25 mins.

The deities are decorated for the auspicious sight of the Lord by the devotees for the rest of the day. Aarti is a traditional ceremony in which various articles are offered to the Lord’s Deity form. According to the Vedic scriptures the deity is the worshipful form of God, locally manifest so that the devotees can personally render some service to Him. The following items are offered: incense, ghee wick lamp, water, cloth, flowers, a chamara (whisk), and, in the summer, a peacock fan. These items represent the material elements in pure form. Aarti reminds us to offer everything in service to Lord Krishna.

Guru Puja is a traditional ceremony of gratitude honoring the lineage of spiritual masters who have been the custodians of the knowledge of the Self and the Super-self. The attendees sing “sri-guru-charana-padma” song (available online) while offering arati to Srila Prabhupada. The duration is between 10-15 mins.

After the Guru Puja, the morning breakfast is offered to the Lord. During the offering, Morning Lecture is given by senior Bhakti yogi, on Srimad Bhagavatam. Srimad Bhagavatam is considered as the topmost Vedic literature.

Morning arati is offered to the Lordships, after the Breakfast offering. The Morning Class goes on simultaneously during same time. After the class, the attendees are requested to visit the dining hall of the temple to honor the food (prasadam) at around 9:00 am.

The Deity curtains are closed so that the day’s main meal, Raj-bhoga, may be offered to the Deities. All morning, the cooks have been making many opulent preparations for this offering. If you would like to offer something to the deities please contact us.

In the late afternoon, the Deities are awakened from their naps. The curtain remain opens till 6:00 pm.

At 6:00 pm curtains close as dinner is offered to Their Lordships. The conch is sounded and the curtains open for the Sandhya-arati or Sundara-arati at 6:30 pm. Sandhya means ‘early evening’. This Sandhya prayers, also called Gaura-arati, is a full arati and kirtana. The song played during this arati is ‘jaya jaya goracander aratiko sobha” (available online). The duration is between 20-25 mins. Please note Summer timings: 7:00 pm.

The Deities are prepared for bedtime. Their Lordships are dressed in Their night dress as Their opulent garlands and jewelry are removed. Ratrikalika-bhoga offering is made, usually with hot milk and sweets. The curtains open for the last arati of the day, the Sayana arati. A full arati and kirtan is performed while the Deities give auspicious sight (darshana) in Their night dress. At 8:30 pm the temple curtain is closed for the rest of the night. The deities are put to rest till the next day early morning mangal arati. Please note Summer timings: 8:30 pm.
